Australian Adaptive Clothing: Bra Easy

This year I can going to spotlight some of my favourite Australian adaptive clothing designs and companies. My first adaptive clothing spotlight is BraEasy.

I have spent a lot of time researching good fitting adaptive bras for clients. Finding a bra in the right size that meets that needs my clients needs was a challenge. So I was pleasantly surprised when I was introduced to Bra Easy at a networking meeting last year.

BraEasy is hands down one of the best adaptive bra companies that I have found. The bras are unique Australian designs that do up at the side. It was designed as a bra for people with one hand, but it offers benefits for many other people.

BraEasy Benefits

BraEasy’s key adaptive clothing feature is their unique side opening design. This has a number of benefits.

  1. The bras can all be put on with one hand and undone with two fingers.

  2. There are no hooks at the back to dig on people that spend a lot of time seated or lying down.

  3. Unlike with front opening bras, the closure is away from the major curves of the bust so it is larger and more secure, which is particularly important for people with larger busts.

  4. There is no need to put your arms through the loops so it can be worn be people with limited arm and shoulder mobility.

BraEasy bras come in three designs to suit those with smaller and larger busts. They come in sizes 8A to 24E and while this doesn’t cover the full range of sizes that people come in, it is by far and away the biggest range of sizes I have seen in an adaptive bra.

One of the bras comes without underwire which means that it is more comfortable for people with asymmetrical bodies - for example due to scoliosis.

BraEasy Suits People with a Range of Disabilities and Health Conditions

Bra Easy bras suit people with a wide range of disabilities and health conditions. It suits people who get tired quickly, as it is easy to get on; people with mobility limitations in their hands, arms and shoulders; and people who can’t wear hooks on their back as they dig in.

The following is a non-exhaustive list of conditions that can be aided by having a BraEasy bra:

  • Limb differences

  • Frozen shoulder

  • MS

  • Parkinsons

  • Broken arms and hands

  • Lupus

  • Arthritis

  • Stroke

  • Scoliosis

BraEasy Limitations

I have never seen a piece of adaptive clothing that suits all conditions, so what are Bra Easy’s limitations?

Bra Easy Bras don’t currently come with the ability to insert prosthetic breasts. So they are not suitable for cancer survivors who have a single breast mastectomy that use one. However, one of the bras may be suitable for people who have breast surgery and post-operative scarring.

Purchasing a BraEasy Bra

Bra Easy bras can only be purchased online at their websites - BraEasy.com for Australian purchasers and BraEasyUSA.Com for America purchasers.

Verdict

Based on what I have seen the quality of BraEasy bras is excellent and their range of sizes and features is aslo excellent.

I am going to buy a BraEasy bra for myself next time I need a new bra. I’ll report back on it then.

How about you? Would you consider a BraEasy Bra?
